Word Meanings:

  • Al-Haqq (ٱلْحَقِّ): The truth, the absolute reality, and the clear, undeniable message of monotheism and divine guidance.
  • Kārihūn (كَارِهُونَ): Those who detest, abhor, or feel aversion toward something, refusing to accept it despite its clarity.

Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Judgment, after the wrongdoers are cast into Hellfire, they cry out to its keeper, Mālik, pleading: "O Mālik, let your Lord put an end to us!" They seek death as an escape from their torment. But Mālik replies: "You are here to stay—there is no way out, no relief, and no end for you." Then comes the rebuke, addressed to them directly: "We certainly brought you the truth"—meaning, in the worldly life, We sent you messengers with clear signs, revealed scriptures, and undeniable proof of the Oneness of Allah and the path to salvation. We left no excuse for you. Yet, despite this clarity, most of you were averse to the truth. You hated it not because it was unclear, but because following it demanded effort, sacrifice, and submission to Allah—and that was too heavy for your desires. You preferred your whims over guidance, and now you taste the bitter fruit of that choice.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

This verse is a profound reminder for every soul that the truth does not fail to reach us—it is we who fail to embrace it. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has sent the Qur'an, the final revelation, as a light that illuminates every corner of doubt. The problem is never the message; it is the heart that turns away in aversion. How often do we find ourselves disliking a command of Allah because it clashes with our comfort? How often do we delay repentance because we love our habits more than His pleasure? Let this verse awaken you: the truth is not something to be disliked; it is the key to eternal peace. Open your heart to it today, submit with sincerity, and you will find that what once seemed burdensome becomes the sweetest source of tranquility. Do not wait until the day when regret will be of no avail—embrace the truth now, and let it transform your life into a journey of purpose and divine love.

📜 Verse 76-80 — Az-Zukhruf

And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
And they will call, "O Malik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers are with them recording.
