Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Junood (جُنُودُ): Armies, forces, or hosts. This refers to the unseen and seen forces that Allah commands and deploys as He wills.
- Al-Samawati wal-Ard (السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ): The heavens and the earth — encompassing all realms of existence, both the visible world and the unseen.
- Azizan (عَزِيزًا): Almighty, Mighty, Invincible — One Whose power cannot be challenged or overcome.
- Hakiman (حَكِيمًا): All-Wise — One Who places everything in its perfect place, with profound purpose and flawless planning.
The Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse is a profound declaration of absolute sovereignty and divine power. Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) alone owns and commands the armies of the heavens and the earth. These forces are not limited to what human eyes can see — they include the angels who execute His commands without hesitation, the forces of nature that obey His will, and the believers on earth whom He supports and strengthens in His cause. When Allah wills to aid His faithful servants, He deploys these unseen and seen hosts to grant them victory, just as He did at Badr and on other momentous occasions.
The verse concludes with two of Allah’s magnificent attributes: He is Al-Aziz — the Mighty One Whom no power in the universe can defeat or resist, and Al-Hakim — the All-Wise One Whose every decree, every act of giving or withholding, every triumph or trial, is measured with perfect wisdom. His might is never arbitrary; it is always coupled with wisdom. His wisdom is never weak; it is always backed by might.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear believer, let this verse fill your heart with tranquility and certainty. When you feel surrounded by difficulties, remember that the armies of the heavens and the earth belong to Allah alone. No tyrant, no oppressor, no overwhelming circumstance can stand against His will. Your victory does not depend on numbers, resources, or human strength — it depends on the Mighty and Wise Lord Who has promised to support those who strive in His path.
So strengthen your connection with Him, place your trust in His wisdom, and know that whatever He decrees for you — whether ease or hardship — is part of a plan far greater than your limited perception. He is Al-Aziz, so fear nothing besides Him. He is Al-Hakim, so doubt nothing that comes from Him. Submit to His command, and you will find yourself under the protection of armies you cannot see, guided by a wisdom you cannot fully comprehend, but which is always working for your ultimate good — in this life and the next.
