Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Baligh (بَلِّغْ): Convey, deliver, or communicate openly and fully.
- Unzila ilayka (أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ): What has been revealed to you (the Qur'an and divine guidance).
- Risalatahu (رِسَالَتَهُ): His Message — the complete, unaltered mission of prophethood.
- Ya'simuka (يَعْصِمُكَ): Protects, guards, and shields you from harm.
- La yahdi (لَا يَهْدِي): Does not guide — meaning, does not lead to success or righteousness.
The Tafsir (Explanation):
O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), deliver everything that your Lord has revealed to you — the entire Qur'an and all the divine commands — without omission, hesitation, or fear. Do not conceal even a single letter out of concern for how people might react. If you were to withhold any part of what has been sent down, then you would not have truly conveyed His Message at all, because the mission of prophethood is built on complete and uncompromising transmission. The very essence of your duty is to deliver the whole truth, not a convenient portion of it.
And know with absolute certainty that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has promised to protect you from the people. He will shield you from their plots, their harm, and their attempts to silence you. Your only responsibility is to deliver the Message with sincerity and clarity — the outcome, the acceptance, and the victory are all in Allah's Hands. This divine assurance brought immense comfort to the Prophet (peace be upon him), especially at a time when he faced fierce opposition from the disbelievers of Makkah and beyond. After this verse, the Prophet (peace be upon him) became even more resolute, knowing that no human force could touch him without Allah's permission.
Indeed, Allah does not guide to the path of righteousness those who persist in disbelief and deliberately turn away from the truth after it has become clear to them. Guidance is a gift from Allah, granted to those who seek it with an open heart, while those who reject the truth out of arrogance or stubbornness are left to wander in their own misguidance.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
This verse is a timeless lesson for every believer. It teaches us the value of truthfulness, courage, and complete reliance on Allah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not fear the power of the Quraysh, the whispers of the hypocrites, or the conspiracies of the People of the Book — because his trust was in Allah alone. When you stand for the truth, Allah stands with you. When you convey His message — whether through your words, your actions, or your character — you are part of a noble legacy that began with the prophets and continues with every sincere Muslim.
So, dear believer, do not be afraid to speak the truth, to enjoin good and forbid evil, and to share the beauty of Islam with others. Allah has promised to protect those who strive in His cause. And remember: your duty is not to guarantee results, but to deliver the message with sincerity and wisdom. The rest is with Allah, the Best of Planners.
May Allah make us among those who convey His message with honesty and courage, and may He protect us from the whispers of Shaytan and the desires of the soul. Ameen.
