- لَا يُوقِنُونَ (Lā yūqinūn): They do not have certainty — they lack firm, unwavering faith.
Tafsir (Explanation):
The verse poses a profound and challenging question to those who deny the truth: "Did they create the heavens and the earth?" The answer is self-evident — of course they did not. No human being, no matter how powerful, intelligent, or resourceful, has ever created even a single star, let alone the vast cosmos with its perfect order, balance, and beauty. The heavens and the earth stand as the greatest testimony to the existence and majesty of their Creator.
Yet, the verse immediately follows with a piercing diagnosis: "Rather, they are not certain." This means that their denial is not based on evidence or logic — it is based on a lack of conviction and certainty in their hearts. Had they truly sought the truth with sincerity, they would have found the signs of Allah everywhere. But their arrogance, their attachment to worldly desires, and their refusal to submit to the truth have blinded them.
The deeper meaning here is that if they truly believed with certainty that Allah alone created the heavens and the earth, they would have worshipped Him alone. They would have accepted His messengers, followed His guidance, and prepared for the Day of Judgment. Instead, they associate partners with Him and live as if they will never be held accountable.
This verse is a call to every human being to reflect: Look at the sky above you, the earth beneath your feet, the stars, the mountains, the oceans — who created all of this? The answer is clear for anyone who opens their heart. Certainty (yaqīn) is not merely intellectual acknowledgment; it is a deep, transformative faith that changes how you live, worship, and prepare for your meeting with your Lord.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse invites you to a moment of honest reflection. The universe around you is not a random accident — it is a masterpiece of divine creation. Every sunrise and sunset, every breath you take, every cell in your body speaks of a Wise and Powerful Creator. Do not let doubt and negligence rob you of the greatest truth. Open your heart to certainty, submit to your Creator, and you will find peace that transcends all worldly concerns. The One who created the heavens and the earth is calling you to Him — will you answer?
