Surah An-Najm — Verse 2

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, the Most High, swears by the stars as they fade and disappear, affirming the absolute truth and perfection of His final Messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him). This verse is a decisive and powerful declaration: "Your companion has not strayed, nor has he erred."

The term "your companion" refers to Muhammad (peace be upon him), who lived among the Quraysh for forty years before his prophethood. They knew him intimately as "Al-Amin" (the trustworthy) and "As-Sadiq" (the truthful). This verse reassures both the believers and the skeptics that he never deviated from the path of guidance—neither before nor after his prophethood. He did not fall into misguidance, nor did he adopt ignorance or foolishness. Rather, he was and remains upon the highest degree of uprightness, moderation, and sound judgment. His words, actions, and entire being were a living embodiment of divine guidance, and his speech was not born of personal desire or whim, but was pure revelation from Allah.
