Translation Transliteration — Al-An'am

وَمِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ حَمُولَةً وَفَرْشًا ۚ كُلُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ ۝١٤٢

Wa minal an`aami hamoolatanw wa farshaa; kuloo mimmaa razaqakumul laahu wa laa tattabi`oo khutuwaatish Shaitaan; innahoo lakum `aduwwum mubeen

And of the grazing livestock are carriers [of burdens] and those [too] small. Eat of what Allah has provided for you and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

Hamoolah (حَمُولَةً): Large cattle capable of carrying heavy loads, such as mature camels.
Farshan (فَرْشًا): Small cattle that are not used for carrying burdens, such as young camels, sheep, and goats — so called because they are low to the ground, like a "bed" (firash) spread on the earth.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Our Lord, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, has created for you, O humanity, various kinds of cattle (an'am) — some large and strong, like adult camels, which carry your heavy burdens on long journeys, and some small and gentle, like young camels, sheep, and goats, which are easy to handle and provide you with milk, meat, and wool. All of this is a pure blessing from Allah, and He has made it lawful for you to eat from what He has provided. So eat from the good and permissible provisions He has granted you, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan by declaring lawful what Allah has forbidden or forbidding what He has made lawful — just as the polytheists of old did when they set their own rules upon the cattle, inventing superstitions and false prohibitions. Indeed, Satan is your clear, open enemy, who spares no effort to lead you astray from the straight path of Allah. His enmity is evident and ancient, so beware of his whispers and do not let him turn you away from the blessings and guidance of your Lord.

Da'wah Reflection:

Dear believer, look around you and reflect: every animal you ride, every morsel you eat, every comfort you enjoy — it is all from the boundless generosity of Allah alone. He did not leave you to wander in confusion, but gave you clear guidance and made His blessings lawful for you. So let your heart overflow with gratitude, and let your actions reflect obedience. Do not let Shaytan rob you of this beautiful relationship with your Creator. He is your sworn enemy, and his only goal is to make you ungrateful and disobedient. Turn to Allah with a sincere heart, thank Him for His favors, and walk confidently on the path of righteousness — for in that path lies true peace, happiness, and success in this life and the Hereafter. Allah loves those who are grateful, and He is always ready to increase them in His bounty.

📜 Verse 140-144 — Al-An'am

140قَدْ خَسِرَ الَّذِينَ قَتَلُوا أَوْلَادَهُمْ سَفَهًا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُوا مَا رَزَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ افْتِرَاءً عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ قَدْ ضَلُّوا وَمَا كَانُوا مُهْتَدِينَ

Those will have lost who killed their children in foolishness without knowledge and prohibited what Allah had provided for them, inventing untruth about Allah. They have gone astray and were not [rightly] guided.

141۞ وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَنشَأَ جَنَّاتٍ مَّعْرُوشَاتٍ وَغَيْرَ مَعْرُوشَاتٍ وَالنَّخْلَ وَالزَّرْعَ مُخْتَلِفًا أُكُلُهُ وَالزَّيْتُونَ وَالرُّمَّانَ مُتَشَابِهًا وَغَيْرَ مُتَشَابِهٍ ۚ كُلُوا مِن ثَمَرِهِ إِذَا أَثْمَرَ وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ ۖ وَلَا تُسْرِفُوا ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

And He it is who causes gardens to grow, [both] trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different [kinds of] food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakah] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess.

142وَمِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ حَمُولَةً وَفَرْشًا ۚ كُلُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ

And of the grazing livestock are carriers [of burdens] and those [too] small. Eat of what Allah has provided for you and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.

143ثَمَانِيَةَ أَزْوَاجٍ ۖ مِّنَ الضَّأْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ الْمَعْزِ اثْنَيْنِ ۗ قُلْ آلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا اشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ نَبِّئُونِي بِعِلْمٍ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

[They are] eight mates - of the sheep, two and of the goats, two. Say, "Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you should be truthful."

144وَمِنَ الْإِبِلِ اثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ اثْنَيْنِ ۗ قُلْ آلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ أَمِ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ أَمَّا اشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْحَامُ الْأُنثَيَيْنِ ۖ أَمْ كُنتُمْ شُهَدَاءَ إِذْ وَصَّاكُمُ اللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا ۚ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا لِّيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

And of the camels, two and of the cattle, two. Say, "Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when Allah charged you with this? Then who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah to mislead the people by [something] other than knowledge? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people."
