Surah Al-A'raf — Verse 62

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, the Prophet Nuh (Noah, peace be upon him) responds to his people who accused him of being misguided. He clarifies his true mission and character with three profound statements:

First, he declares: *"I convey to you the messages of my Lord."* This means he delivers exactly what Allah has revealed to him — the commands, prohibitions, and guidance — without adding, omitting, or altering anything. He is a faithful messenger whose sole duty is to transmit the divine revelation with complete honesty and precision.

Second, he says: *"And I give you sincere advice."* True sincerity (nuṣḥ) means wishing for others the same good that one wishes for oneself. Nuh (peace be upon him) genuinely desired the best for his people — he warned them against the punishment of Allah and encouraged them toward His reward, not out of personal interest, but out of pure compassion and care for their eternal well-being.

Third, he states: *"And I know from Allah what you do not know."* Through divine revelation, Nuh (peace be upon him) possessed knowledge that his people lacked — knowledge of Allah’s justice, the certainty of His punishment for the disbelievers, and the reality of the Hereafter. This knowledge was not from his own intellect or speculation but was granted to him by Allah through revelation.

This verse teaches us a beautiful lesson: the messengers of Allah combined three essential qualities — faithful delivery of the message, sincere concern for the people, and divinely-granted knowledge. They were not merely informants; they were compassionate guides who truly loved their communities and wanted nothing but their success in this life and the next.

A Da‘wah Reflection:

Dear reader, reflect on the character of Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him). Despite centuries of calling his people to the truth, facing rejection and mockery, he never wavered in his sincerity. He did not seek power, wealth, or status — he only sought the salvation of his people from the fire of Hell.

This is the essence of Islamic da‘wah: conveying the truth with wisdom, advising with compassion, and relying on Allah’s knowledge rather than our limited understanding. When we share the message of Islam with others, we should embody this same spirit — speaking the truth kindly, desiring good for others sincerely, and trusting that Allah’s knowledge encompasses what we cannot see.

The Qur’an is the final message from the Lord of the worlds, and it contains everything we need for our happiness in this life and our salvation in the Hereafter. Let us receive it with open hearts, act upon it with sincerity, and share it with others in the beautiful manner exemplified by the prophets, peace be upon them all.
