Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- ضَلَالَةٌ (Dalalah): Misguidance, error, or deviation from the truth.
- رَسُولٌ (Rasool): A messenger sent by Allah with a divine message.
- رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (Rabb al-'Alameen): The Lord of all the worlds—the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign of everything that exists.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Prophet Nuh (Noah), peace be upon him, responded to his people's accusations with calmness and clarity. They had called him misguided, but he firmly and gently refuted their claim: "O my people, there is no misguidance in me whatsoever." He did not merely deny the accusation—he completely negated any trace of error or deviation from his character and mission. His words carried the weight of certainty, for he knew his standing with Allah.
Then he revealed the true source of his message: "But I am a Messenger from the Lord of all the worlds." This was not a claim of personal ambition or intellectual opinion—it was a divine appointment. He was not speaking from his own desire, but conveying revelation from the One who created the heavens and the earth, the One who sustains every living being, the One whose knowledge encompasses all things. By saying "Lord of all the worlds," Nuh reminded his people that his message was not tribal or regional—it was universal, coming from the Master of everything, including those very people who were rejecting him.
In this verse, we see the beautiful character of a prophet: he did not respond with anger or insults, but with patient explanation and a clear invitation to the truth. He distinguished himself from false claimants by anchoring his call in divine revelation, not personal opinion. His words reflect the essence of every prophet's mission: to guide humanity out of darkness and into the light of Allah's mercy.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder how Nuh's response teaches us an eternal lesson: when the truth is with you, you need not be shaken by the accusations of others. The prophets were the most patient and steadfast of people because their certainty came from Allah. Today, as you read this, know that the same Lord who sent Nuh to his people sent Muhammad ﷺ with the final message—the Quran. This book is not a human invention; it is the word of the Lord of all worlds. Open your heart to it, and you will find the same light that guided Nuh and his followers to safety. The path of guidance is clear, and the door of mercy is open—will you not step through it?
