Surah Al-Qiyamah — Verse 32

• Kadhdhaba (كَذَّبَ): He denied and rejected the truth — specifically, the Qur'an and the message brought by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
• Tawallā (تَوَلَّى): He turned away and withdrew — meaning he deliberately avoided faith, refused to submit, and distanced himself from obedience.

Explanation of the Verse:

After describing the one who believed and performed the prayer, Allah now contrasts him with the disbeliever who took the opposite path. This person did not believe in the Messenger or the Qur'an, nor did he fulfill the obligations Allah placed upon him — such as the prayer. Instead, he denied the truth outright — rejecting the Qur'an and what it contains of guidance, proofs, and warnings — and he turned away from faith, refusing to listen, reflect, or submit. His rejection was not out of ignorance, but out of arrogance and stubbornness. He then walked back to his people with pride and vanity, strutting in his gait as if he had achieved something great — when in reality, he had only sealed his own ruin. The Qur'an then declares a stern warning: "Woe to you, and woe! Then woe to you, and woe!" — a terrifying threat of destruction upon destruction for such a person.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, pause and look at this vivid contrast. The believer humbles himself in prayer, while the denier walks in arrogance. The believer submits to his Lord, while the denier turns his back on the very One who created him. Which path do you wish to meet Allah with? The door of repentance is open until the soul reaches the throat. Do not be like the one who denied and turned away — for he lost both this world and the next. Instead, be among those who say, "We hear and we obey," and who hasten to the mercy of their Lord. The Qur'an is not a book to be ignored; it is a light to be followed, a cure for the hearts, and a guide to eternal success. Let today be the day you turn back to Allah with a sincere heart, before the day comes when no turning back is possible.
