Key Words and Phrases:

  • Yuḥiqqa al-ḥaqq (لِيُحِقَّ الْحَقَّ): To establish, confirm, and make the truth prevail and manifest.
  • Yubṭila al-bāṭil (وَيُبْطِلَ الْبَاطِلَ): To nullify, erase, and destroy falsehood.
  • Al-mujrimūn (الْمُجْرِمُونَ): The criminals, i.e., the polytheists and those who persist in disbelief and sin.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse reveals the profound divine purpose behind the events of Badr and all the trials and triumphs that the believers face. Allah (Glorified be He) declares that He ordained these occurrences to establish the truth — meaning to make Islam and its people victorious, manifest, and firmly rooted — and to nullify falsehood — meaning to eradicate shirk (polytheism), disbelief, and every false ideology, stripping them of their power and influence.

The establishment of truth is not merely about victory in battle; it is about making the signs of Allah’s oneness, the sincerity of His Messenger (peace be upon him), and the authenticity of the Qur’an so clear and undeniable that no rational person can reject them. Every miracle, every act of divine support, and every proof that accompanied the believers served as a living testimony to the truth of Islam. Likewise, the nullification of falsehood is achieved through the very same proofs, which expose the emptiness of polytheism and the baselessness of disbelief.

The verse concludes with a powerful and reassuring statement: "Even though the criminals detest it." This is a divine declaration that the will of Allah prevails over the wishes of the wicked. The polytheists and criminals may hate the truth, they may plot against it, and they may strive to extinguish its light — but their hatred and efforts are of no consequence against the decree of Allah. His purpose will be fulfilled, His truth will rise, and falsehood will collapse, regardless of how much the wrongdoers despise it.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear believer, ponder the greatness of this divine promise. Allah has taken it upon Himself to make the truth victorious and to destroy falsehood — not because He needs our support, but out of His mercy and wisdom, so that justice and goodness may fill the earth. Your role, as a servant of Allah, is to stand firmly with the truth, to embody it in your words and deeds, and to trust in Allah’s promise even when the enemies of truth seem strong or numerous.

Let this verse fill your heart with hope and certainty. No matter how much the criminals detest Islam, no matter how much they try to distort its image or suppress its call, Allah’s decree is supreme. The truth of Islam is like a radiant sun — the more the clouds of falsehood gather, the more brilliantly it shines. So be patient, be steadfast, and be proud of your faith, for you are on the side of the truth that Allah Himself has promised to establish, and the side of falsehood is destined for nothing but ruin.

📜 Verse 6-10 — Al-Anfal

Arguing with you concerning the truth after it had become clear, as if they were being driven toward death while they were looking on.
[Remember, O believers], when Allah promised you one of the two groups - that it would be yours - and you wished that the unarmed one would be yours. But Allah intended to establish the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelievers
That He should establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it.
[Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another."
And Allah made it not but good tidings and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And victory is not but from Allah. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
