Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Abrar (الأبرار): The plural of *barr* (بَرّ), meaning the righteous, the pious, and those who are consistently devoted to goodness. It describes those whose righteousness is comprehensive—extending both to their duties toward Allah and to their treatment of His creation.
  • Na'eem (نَعِيم): Everlasting bliss, delight, and abundant blessings—referring to the perpetual joy and comfort of Paradise.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, the Most High, declares with absolute certainty that the righteous—those who fulfill the rights of Allah by worshipping Him sincerely and obeying His commands, and who fulfill the rights of His servants by treating them with kindness, justice, and compassion—will surely be in everlasting bliss. This is not a temporary or fleeting happiness; rather, it is an eternal state of joy, peace, and contentment in the Gardens of Paradise on the Day of Judgment.

The word *al-abrar* encompasses those whose goodness is a constant and pervasive trait. They are devoted to their Lord through obedience and devotion, and they are devoted to people by striving to bring benefit and goodness to them as much as they can. Their reward is a life of perfect delight—free from all sorrow, pain, and fear—where every desire is fulfilled and every pleasure is pure.

This verse brings glad tidings to every believer who strives in the path of righteousness. It reminds us that no act of goodness, however small, is ever lost with Allah. The righteous are promised a reward beyond imagination, a bliss that the eyes have not seen, the ears have not heard, and the human heart has not conceived. So let every Muslim take heart and persist in doing good, for the outcome is truly magnificent. Let this promise fill your heart with hope and your soul with determination, knowing that your Lord never breaks His promise. The path of righteousness may require patience and sacrifice in this world, but it leads to an eternity of happiness that far outweighs any hardship you may face.
