Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Sūrah (صُورَةٍ): Form, shape, or appearance.
- Mā shā'a (مَا شَاءَ): Whatever He willed or desired.
- Rakkabaka (رَكَّبَكَ): He composed you, fashioned you, or put you together.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O human being who denies the Resurrection, what has deceived you about your Lord, the Most Generous, the Most Bountiful, who is truly deserving of your gratitude and obedience? Is He not the One who created you, then perfected your form, and made you balanced and upright? He composed you in whatever shape He willed—whether beautiful or otherwise, sound or impaired, tall or short, male or female—according to His infinite wisdom and choice. He did not leave your creation to chance, nor did He abandon you to nature. Rather, He personally fashioned you with His power and mercy.
Indeed, Allah honored you by giving you the most excellent of forms—the human form—rather than the form of a donkey, a monkey, a dog, or any other creature. He granted you upright posture, intellect, speech, and the ability to discern right from wrong. This is a profound blessing that should fill your heart with gratitude and humility before your Creator.
Reflect, dear reader: if Allah had willed, He could have created you in a deformed or ugly shape, or in the likeness of beasts that walk on all fours. But He chose to create you in the best of molds, with beauty, balance, and dignity. This alone is enough reason to turn to Him in thankfulness, to worship Him sincerely, and to never be arrogant or heedless of His commands. For the One who fashioned you so perfectly is surely capable of bringing you back to life after death, and He will hold you accountable for how you used the form He granted you.
So let this verse awaken your heart: your very existence, your shape, your features—all are signs of Allah's boundless mercy and power. Do not let the whispers of Satan make you forget your Lord, and do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world distract you from the One who created you with His own hand, in the image He chose for you. Praise Him, thank Him, and submit to Him, for He is worthy of all praise and gratitude.
