Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yaftaroona (يَفْتَرُونَ): They fabricate lies and falsely attribute things to Allah.
- Dhul Fadl (ذُو فَضْلٍ): Possessor of abundant grace, bounty, and kindness.
- Yashkuroon (يَشْكُرُونَ): They show gratitude and acknowledge blessings.
Tafsir (Explanation):
What do those who invent lies against Allah truly expect will happen to them on the Day of Resurrection? Do they imagine that their falsehoods—such as declaring things lawful or unlawful without divine authority—will go unpunished? Do they assume that Allah will simply overlook their fabrications and forgive them without consequence? This rhetorical question is meant to shake them from their complacency and make them realize the grave reality awaiting them.
The verse then reminds us of a profound truth: Allah is indeed full of grace and bounty toward humanity. Despite the severity of their crime—fabricating lies about their Creator—He does not hasten to punish them in this world. He gives them time, opportunities to repent, and chances to mend their ways. This is a manifestation of His immense mercy and patience. Yet, most people fail to recognize or appreciate this divine favor. They take His forbearance for granted, continue in their falsehood, and remain ungrateful for the very mercy that keeps them alive and gives them respite.
This verse carries a powerful lesson for every believer. It calls us to reflect on the boundless patience of Allah, who does not strike down the sinner immediately but waits, giving them every opportunity to return to Him. It also serves as a stern warning against inventing lies about Allah—whether by distorting His religion, making unlawful what He has made lawful, or spreading false teachings in His name. Such actions carry a heavy weight that will be confronted on the Day of Judgment.
At the same time, the verse invites us to be among the grateful. When we recognize Allah's grace in giving us time, health, faith, and countless blessings, our hearts naturally fill with love and thankfulness. Gratitude is not merely a word on the lips; it is a way of life that draws us closer to Allah and protects us from the arrogance of those who fabricate lies against Him. Let this verse inspire you to pause, reflect, and thank Allah for His endless favors—for He is indeed the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and His door of repentance is always open.
