Explanation of the Verse:
After years of hardship—betrayal by his brothers, slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment—Allah (God) granted Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) peace be upon him a remarkable turn of fortune. Just as He had rescued him from the darkness of the prison, He now established him with honor and authority in the land of Egypt. Yusuf was given a high position in the government, and he could settle and move freely wherever he wished, enjoying the trust and respect of the king and the people.
This verse carries a profound message: Allah’s mercy and favor are not random or arbitrary—they are granted to whom He wills, according to His infinite wisdom. Yet, this mercy is closely tied to righteousness. Allah does not waste the reward of those who do good. Yusuf's patience, purity, and steadfastness in the face of trials were not overlooked. His elevation was a direct result of his excellence in faith and character.
The verse teaches us that no act of goodness, no matter how small, is ever lost in Allah’s sight. The believer who remains patient, sincere, and devoted to Allah through trials will find that Allah’s help and mercy arrive in ways they never expected. Just as the darkness of Yusuf's prison turned into the light of authority, so too can our trials turn into blessings if we remain steadfast and righteous.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a beacon of hope for every believer facing hardship. It reminds us that Allah’s plan is greater than our circumstances. The story of Yusuf is a living proof that after every difficulty comes ease, and that Allah never abandons those who put their trust in Him. Let this inspire you to hold fast to your faith, to excel in your deeds, and to never despair of Allah’s mercy—for His reward is greater than any trial you may face. Indeed, the gates of His mercy are wide open for those who strive in His path with sincerity and patience.
