Tafsir (Explanation):
In this verse, Allah draws our attention to His magnificent creation of the earth, inviting us to reflect on His infinite power and wisdom. He says that He spread out the earth, making it vast and spacious so that humanity could dwell upon it with ease and comfort. This spreading is not merely about physical expansion, but about making the earth a suitable and habitable place for all living beings.
Then, Allah mentions that He placed upon the earth firm mountains (rawāsī) that act as stabilizers. These mountains serve a crucial purpose: they keep the earth from shaking and swaying, providing stability and security for those who live upon it. This is a profound sign of Allah's care for His creation — He did not leave the earth unstable, but anchored it with these mighty structures so that life could flourish in peace and tranquility.
Furthermore, Allah tells us that He caused to grow from the earth every kind of plant and vegetation in a measured, precise manner. The word "mawzūn" (measured) indicates that everything Allah creates is perfectly balanced and determined according to His infinite wisdom. Nothing is created haphazardly or without purpose. Every plant, every fruit, every seed has its own specific quantity, quality, and timing, all tailored to the needs of His servants and the balance of the ecosystem.
This verse is a beautiful reminder of Allah's generosity and mercy. He not only created the earth but also prepared it for us — spreading it, stabilizing it, and filling it with provisions that sustain our lives. When we look at the mountains, the fertile soil, and the diverse vegetation, we should see the hand of Allah and feel gratitude in our hearts. This gratitude should lead us to worship Him alone and to live our lives in obedience to His commands.
Reflect, dear reader: if Allah has taken such care to prepare this world for you, how much more does He care about your spiritual well-being? He has not left you without guidance — He has sent His messengers and His books to lead you to success in this life and the Hereafter. So turn to Him with a sincere heart, and you will find that He has prepared for you even greater blessings in Paradise, where rivers flow beneath gardens of eternal delight.
