Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • "Kun" (كُن): The imperative command "Be" — a word signifying Allah's absolute power to bring anything into existence instantaneously.
  • "Fa-yakūn" (فَيَكُون): "So it is" — meaning it comes into existence immediately, without delay or resistance.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse stands as a magnificent declaration of Allah’s absolute sovereignty and His effortless power over all things. When Allah intends to bring something into being — whether it is the resurrection of the dead, the creation of the heavens and the earth, or any matter whatsoever — He does not need tools, time, effort, or assistance. His command is sufficient: He simply says to that thing, "Be," and it is, without any hesitation or obstacle.

This is a direct response to those who doubted the possibility of resurrection after death. They considered it impossible for decayed bones to be restored to life. Yet Allah reminds them that the One who created everything from nothing is certainly able to recreate it. Nothing is too great or too difficult for Him. The entire universe, with all its wonders, came into existence by His mere word — so how could the revival of the dead be beyond His power?

The verse also carries a profound spiritual lesson for the believer: if Allah’s command is so immediate and effective in the physical world, then His promises are equally certain. Whatever Allah has promised — victory for the believers, provision, forgiveness, or Paradise — will undoubtedly come to pass. No force in the universe can delay or prevent His decree.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, contemplate the majesty of this verse. The same Allah who says "Be" to the universe and it exists, is the One who hears your prayers, knows your struggles, and responds to your supplications. When you feel weak, remember His infinite power. When you face difficulties, remember that nothing is impossible for Him. He who created you from nothing can certainly grant you relief, guidance, and success.

This verse invites you to place your complete trust in Allah, to submit your affairs to Him, and to live with the certainty that His will prevails over all. It is a call to strengthen your faith, to find peace in His decree, and to draw closer to the One whose command is absolute and whose mercy is boundless. Let this knowledge fill your heart with hope and your life with purpose, for you are connected to the Almighty who simply says "Be" — and it is.

📜 Verse 38-42 — An-Nahl

And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths [that] Allah will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.
[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.
Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.
And those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allah after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.
[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.
