Explanation of the Verse:
O Messenger of Allah, reflect deeply and contemplate how Allah, in His infinite wisdom and justice, has favored some people over others in this worldly life. Look at the vast differences in provision, wealth, health, intellect, social status, and opportunities — some are given abundance while others are given less, some are raised to positions of authority while others remain in humble circumstances. This disparity is not random or unjust; rather, it is a divine test and a manifestation of Allah’s perfect wisdom, as He grants worldly favors according to His will, not as a measure of His love or a person’s true worth.
Yet, O believer, do not let your heart be attached to these fleeting differences of the world. For the Hereafter — the eternal life that awaits every soul — is far greater in its degrees and far more immense in its distinctions. The differences between people in Paradise and Hellfire are incomparably vaster than any worldly disparity. The believer who strives for the Hereafter will find ranks of bliss that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can imagine. The highest of these degrees is the pleasure of Allah and the vision of His noble Face, while the lowest of the Fire is a punishment beyond all earthly suffering.
So let this verse awaken your ambition, dear Muslim. The world’s favors are temporary and deceptive — they may lift one person today and lower them tomorrow. But the favors of the Hereafter are eternal and ever-increasing. Therefore, race toward what truly matters: seek the highest degrees of Paradise through sincere faith, righteous deeds, and steadfast patience. Do not envy those who have been given more in this world, for their worldly advantage is nothing compared to what Allah has prepared for His righteous servants. Let your heart yearn for the eternal reward, and let your actions reflect that noble pursuit — for the Hereafter is indeed greater in degrees and greater in favor, and it is there that true success lies.
