Word Meanings:

Drives, propels, or causes to move smoothly and gently.
Ships and vessels.
So that you may seek His bounty, i.e., provision and livelihood through trade and travel.

Explanation of the Verse:

O people, your Lord—the One who created you, nourishes you, and manages all your affairs—is the very One who drives the ships for you across the sea, making them glide smoothly over the waves by His power and wisdom. He has subjected this mighty vessel to you, despite its heaviness and the vastness of the ocean, so that you may travel for trade, seek lawful provision, and benefit from the riches He has placed in different lands. This is not a random act of nature; it is a deliberate mercy from your Lord, who knows your needs and has made the difficult easy for you. Indeed, He has always been and continues to be Most Compassionate toward you—He does not leave you to struggle on your own, but constantly opens doors of ease and provision for you.

A Call to Reflection and Gratitude:

Ponder, dear reader, on this magnificent scene: a massive ship carrying people and goods, floating on the surface of a deep and often turbulent sea, yet it does not sink, and it reaches its destination safely. Who is it that holds it steady? Who is it that calms the waves and guides the sailors? It is your Lord, the Most Merciful, who has made this possible for you. This is a living sign of His love and care for His servants. So, when you board a ship, a plane, or even a car, remember that it is Allah who facilitates your journey and provides for you through it. Let this awareness fill your heart with gratitude, and let it draw you closer to Him in worship and obedience. For the One who is so merciful in providing for your worldly needs is even more merciful in guiding you to eternal success in the Hereafter. Turn to Him, thank Him, and place your trust in Him—He will never abandon you.

📜 Verse 64-68 — Al-Isra

And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Satan does not promise them except delusion.
Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs.
It is your Lord who drives the ship for you through the sea that you may seek of His bounty. Indeed, He is ever, to you, Merciful.
And when adversity touches you at sea, lost are [all] those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away [from Him]. And ever is man ungrateful.
Then do you feel secure that [instead] He will not cause a part of the land to swallow you or send against you a storm of stones? Then you would not find for yourselves an advocate.
