- "Ahatna" (أَحَطْنَا): "We encompassed" — meaning complete and total knowledge that leaves nothing unaccounted for.

Explanation of the Verse:
This verse concludes the account of Dhul-Qarnayn's journey to the east, where he reached the land of the rising sun. Allah says: *"Thus it was"* — meaning, just as We gave him power and authority in the west, We granted him the same in the east. He was given the means to establish justice wherever he went, and Allah's knowledge encompassed everything he possessed — his armies, his tools, his resources, and his strategies. Nothing was hidden from Allah's sight or knowledge.
The phrase *"We encompassed with full knowledge what he had"* is a profound reminder that Allah, the All-Knowing, was fully aware of every detail of Dhul-Qarnayn's power and every decision he made. This is not merely a statement of Allah's omniscience, but a reassurance that the righteous ruler was under divine supervision and care. His success was not accidental — it was the result of Allah's wisdom and the righteous path he chose to follow.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, ponder this magnificent truth: the same Allah who encompassed Dhul-Qarnayn's affairs with perfect knowledge encompasses yours as well. Nothing in your life — your struggles, your aspirations, your hidden sacrifices — escapes His awareness. When you strive for righteousness, when you help others, when you stand firm upon truth, know that Allah sees it all and will reward you accordingly.
This verse also teaches us a beautiful lesson about leadership and responsibility. Dhul-Qarnayn was given immense power, yet he used it for justice and the service of others. He did not become arrogant or corrupt. Instead, he remained humble before his Lord, knowing that his authority was a trust from Allah.
Let this inspire you to use whatever abilities, wealth, or influence Allah has granted you — no matter how small — in ways that please Him. Whether it is your time, your knowledge, or your kindness, every good deed is known to Allah and will never be lost. The One who encompasses all things with His knowledge is the Most Generous in rewarding those who do good.
May Allah grant us the wisdom to use our blessings as Dhul-Qarnayn did, and may He make us among those who are conscious of His watchful eye in every moment of our lives.
