Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Meanings:
- Ātīhi (آتِيهِ): Coming to Him — meaning, returning to Allah, presenting themselves before Him.
- Fardan (فَرْدًا): Alone, solitary, single — stripped of all companions, wealth, and worldly attachments.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse paints a profound and humbling scene of the Day of Resurrection. Every single soul — regardless of their status, power, or lineage in this world — will come before Allah, the Lord of all worlds, completely alone. No wealth will accompany them, no children will stand by their side, no supporters or allies will be there to defend them. Each person will arrive as they were first created: a solitary individual, facing their Creator with nothing but their deeds.
This is a universal truth that applies to all of humanity — the prophets, the righteous, the tyrants, and the ordinary people alike. Every human being will stand before Allah in complete isolation, stripped of every worldly possession and relationship that once gave them comfort or pride. The very things people often rely upon in this life — money, family, status, and influence — will all be left behind, unable to intercede or help in any way.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart! Imagine that moment when you stand before your Lord — utterly alone, with no one to lean on and nothing to hide behind. The wealth you accumulated, the children you raised, the reputation you built — all of it will be left at the doorstep of this world. What will accompany you is only what you sent forward: your faith, your good deeds, and your sincere devotion to Allah.
This is not meant to frighten you, but to liberate you! It reminds us that our true relationship is with Allah alone, and that we should not become slaves to worldly attachments or depend on created beings. It calls us to invest in what truly matters — building a connection with our Creator, purifying our hearts, and performing righteous deeds that will light our path when we stand before Him, alone yet not forgotten, for Allah is the Most Merciful and His justice is perfect.
So prepare for that day today. Let every prayer, every act of kindness, every moment of patience bring you closer to the One who will receive you on that Day — not as a stranger, but as a servant who strove to know and please their Lord. For on that day, when you stand fardan, your deeds will be your truest companion.
