Explanation of the Verse:
This noble verse poses a profound rhetorical question: "Who would turn away from the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) except one who has fooled himself?" The answer is implicit — no one of sound mind and pure nature would abandon this path, for the religion of Ibrahim is the essence of Islam: pure monotheism, sincere devotion to Allah alone, and submission to His will. Turning away from it is an act of sheer foolishness and self-degradation, for such a person has wronged his own soul by choosing misguidance over truth and humiliation over honor.
Allah then reminds us of the great status of His beloved Prophet Ibrahim: "And We certainly chose him in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous." Allah selected Ibrahim as a prophet and messenger, and honored him with His close friendship (khullah). In the Hereafter, he will be among the righteous who fulfilled their obligations to Allah, attaining the highest ranks in Paradise in the company of the prophets.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, this verse invites you to look into your own heart. The religion of Ibrahim is not a foreign or outdated path — it is the very nature upon which Allah created humanity. It is the call of every prophet, from Adam to Muhammad (peace be upon them all). To embrace it is to embrace wisdom, dignity, and success in both worlds. To turn away from it is to lose oneself and squander the greatest treasure. Allah chose Ibrahim and elevated him because of his sincere faith and unwavering devotion — and He opens the same door to every servant who sincerely seeks the truth. Do not let pride, habit, or worldly desires veil you from this radiant path. Come to it with an open heart, and you will find peace in this life and eternal bliss in the next. This is the way of the righteous, the way of those whom Allah loves, and the way that leads to His eternal pleasure.
