Word Meanings:

Let him not turn you away" – i.e., do not let anyone divert or distract you.
  • عَنْهَا – "from it" – referring to the Hour (the Day of Resurrection) mentioned in the preceding verses.
  • مَن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا – "one who does not believe in it" – i.e., those who deny the coming of the Hour.
  • وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ – "and follows his own desire" – meaning he has submitted to his whims and lusts instead of divine guidance.
  • فَتَرْدَىٰ – "so you would perish" – i.e., you would be ruined and destroyed.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Allah addresses His Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) with a profound and timeless warning, and through him, every believer who carries the torch of faith. Allah says: "Do not let anyone who denies the Hour and follows his own desires turn you away from believing in it and preparing for it."

The meaning is clear and powerful: The belief in the Hereafter is the cornerstone of a believer's life. It is what gives meaning to our actions, patience in our trials, and hope in our worship. Those who reject this truth are not merely mistaken—they are enslaved to their own whims, chasing fleeting pleasures and worldly illusions. Their words may be persuasive, their arguments may seem strong, and their numbers may be great, but their foundation is sand.

Allah warns Musa—and by extension, every believer—not to be swayed by such people. The consequence of being diverted from this truth is severe: "فَتَرْدَىٰ" – "then you would perish." This is not a mere threat but a divine reality: whoever abandons the belief in the meeting with Allah and the accountability of the Hereafter has lost the very compass that guides the soul to salvation. Such a person drifts aimlessly, and ultimately, their end is ruin—both in this life and the next.

This verse also carries a beautiful lesson for us today. In a world filled with distractions, temptations, and voices that mock the idea of divine justice, the believer must hold firmly to the certainty of the Hour. Let us not be shaken by those who say "life is only this world" or "there is no reckoning." Instead, let us prepare for that Day with sincere repentance, righteous deeds, and unwavering trust in Allah's promise. For the one who believes and prepares shall find peace, while the one who turns away shall find only loss.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse is a gentle yet firm reminder that your faith is a treasure beyond measure. Do not let anyone—no matter how eloquent or influential—steal it from you. The Hour is real, the resurrection is certain, and the meeting with your Lord is inevitable. Prepare for it today, before the time comes when preparation will no longer avail. And know that Allah, in His infinite mercy, has given you this warning out of love, so that you may never taste the ruin of those who turned away.

📜 Verse 14-18 — Taha

Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.
Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives.
So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish.
And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?"
He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses."
