Key Words and Phrases:

  • أَسْرِ (Asri): Travel by night, to depart secretly under the cover of darkness.
(Ibadi): My servants — referring here to the Children of Israel, the believing followers of Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him.
(Fadrib): Literally "strike," but here it means to take or make a path; it refers to striking the sea with the staff, as commanded by Allah.
(Yabas): Dry land, a path that is completely dry, with no water or mud.
(Darakan): Overtaking, being caught up with or pursued and reached by the enemy.
(Takhsha): To fear, to be apprehensive about something.

Explanation of the Verse:

Allah, the Most High, reminds us of His immense favor and power when He revealed to His Prophet Musa, peace be upon him, a divine command during a time of great trial. Allah said: "And We had inspired Musa, saying, 'Travel by night with My servants.'" This was not merely a suggestion but a direct and decisive order from the Lord of the worlds. Musa was commanded to lead the Children of Israel out of Egypt secretly, under the veil of night, to escape the tyranny and oppression of Pharaoh, who had enslaved them and killed their sons.

Then Allah commanded him: "Strike for them a dry path in the sea." This was a test of faith and obedience. When Musa reached the shore of the Red Sea, with Pharaoh's army closing in behind him, his companions were filled with terror, saying, "Indeed, we are overtaken!" But Musa, firm in his trust in Allah, replied, "No! Indeed, my Lord is with me; He will guide me." So Allah commanded him to strike the sea with his staff, and by the power of Allah, the mighty waters parted, revealing twelve distinct dry paths — one for each tribe — with walls of water towering on either side. The path was completely dry, free of any water, mud, or slippery ground, making it easy for them to cross.

Allah then reassured Musa, saying, "Fear not overtaking, and do not be afraid." This means: Do not fear that Pharaoh and his army will catch up with you and harm you, and do not fear drowning in the sea. Allah had already decreed the safety of His believing servants and the destruction of the tyrants. This was a promise of complete security — both from the enemy behind them and the sea before them. Indeed, Allah fulfilled His promise: the Children of Israel crossed safely, and when Pharaoh and his army followed the same path, the sea closed over them, drowning them all, while Musa and his people watched the justice of Allah unfold.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This magnificent scene from history is not just a story of the past; it is a living lesson for every believer. It teaches us that when Allah commands, He also provides the means and the protection. When you are obedient to Allah and place your trust in Him, He opens doors you never imagined, and He calms seas that seem impossible to cross. The path of Musa was made dry in the midst of a raging sea — a clear sign that Allah's power over all things is absolute. He turns the impossible into the possible for those who believe.

Dear believer, when you face difficulties in your life — when the "sea" of your problems rages and the "army" of your worries pursues you — remember this verse. Turn to Allah with sincere faith, obey His commands, and trust His promise. He will make a way out for you from where you do not expect, just as He did for Musa and his people. No enemy can harm you if Allah protects you, and no obstacle can stop you if Allah clears your path. So hold firm to your faith, for the help of Allah is near, and His promise is true. And the ultimate victory is for those who are conscious of Him and patient.

📜 Verse 75-79 — Taha

But whoever comes to Him as a believer having done righteous deeds - for those will be the highest degrees [in position]:
76جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
Gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of one who purifies himself.
And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]."
So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them,
And Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them].
