Key Words and Phrases:

  • "Adkhalnahu" (وَأَدْخَلْنَاهُ): We caused him to enter or included him.
  • "Rahmatina" (رَحْمَتِنَا): Our Mercy — here referring to Allah’s special mercy, protection, and favor.
  • "As-Salihin" (الصَّالِحِينَ): The righteous ones — those who are upright in faith and action, obedient to Allah.

Explanation of the Verse:

After mentioning the trials and tribulations of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) and the destruction of his wicked people, Allah concludes this part of the narrative by saying: "And We admitted him into Our Mercy; indeed, he was among the righteous."

This means that Allah, out of His boundless grace, saved Prophet Lot from the punishment that befell his people and granted him safety, honor, and a noble outcome. He was not only saved from physical destruction but was also elevated to a station of divine mercy and closeness to Allah. The phrase "admitted him into Our Mercy" signifies that he was enveloped in Allah’s special care, protection, and blessings — a mercy that encompasses both this world and the Hereafter.

The reason for this divine favor is then stated: "Indeed, he was among the righteous." This is the key to understanding why Lot received such honor. His righteousness was not merely a label; it was a lived reality. He was among those who consistently obeyed Allah’s commands, avoided His prohibitions, and remained steadfast in faith despite living in a society steeped in corruption and immorality. His righteousness was proven through his patience, his unwavering call to truth, and his complete reliance on Allah.

This verse teaches us a profound lesson: Allah’s mercy is not random or arbitrary. It is granted to those who strive to be righteous, who purify their hearts, and who remain firm upon the path of obedience. When a person sincerely commits to righteousness, Allah opens for them the doors of His mercy, protects them from harm, and grants them success in this life and the next.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear believer, look at the example of Prophet Lot — a man who stood alone against a society of evil, yet Allah did not abandon him. Instead, He honored him with His mercy and counted him among the righteous. This is a beautiful reminder that no matter how difficult our circumstances may be, no matter how surrounded we are by corruption and trials, Allah’s mercy is always near for those who remain true to Him.

Let this verse inspire you to strive for righteousness in your own life. Righteousness is not about perfection; it is about sincerity, consistency, and the constant effort to please Allah. Every prayer you offer, every good deed you do, every sin you avoid for His sake — all of these draw you closer to that same divine mercy that enveloped Prophet Lot.

So, hold fast to your faith, be patient in the face of hardship, and trust in Allah’s promise. For indeed, His mercy is vast, and He never lets the efforts of the righteous go to waste. May Allah make us among the righteous and admit us into His mercy, just as He did for His noble prophets. Ameen.

📜 Verse 73-77 — Al-Anbiya

And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us.
And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.
And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous.
And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allah] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great flood.
And We saved him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together.
