Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Ma qadaroo Allaha": They did not measure Allah with His true measure — meaning they did not truly appreciate His greatness, majesty, and power as He deserves.
- "Haqqa qadrih": The rightful estimation and veneration due to Him alone.
- "Qawiyy": The All-Powerful, whose strength knows no limit and from whose might nothing escapes.
- "Aziz": The Almighty, the Invincible, who cannot be overcome or resisted.
Tafsir (Explanation):
These polytheists failed to honor Allah with the honor He truly deserves. Instead of recognizing His absolute sovereignty and unique divinity, they associated partners with Him — worshipping idols and created beings alongside the Creator of the heavens and the earth. This is the ultimate failure of perception: to place the weak, helpless creations on par with the One who brought everything into existence from nothing.
Allah is indeed All-Powerful — His strength is absolute, and from His might alone the heavens, the earth, and all that dwells within them were created. He is Al-Aziz, the Almighty who cannot be defeated, challenged, or opposed by any force in existence. His power is not borrowed, shared, or diminished. In stark contrast, the false gods they worship are utterly powerless — they cannot create, cannot benefit, cannot harm, and cannot even protect themselves. They are weak, subjugated, and completely dependent on Allah's will.
This verse is a profound call to reflect: How can a heart that truly understands Allah's greatness bow down to anything other than Him? When you grasp that Allah is Qawiyy — the source of all strength — and Aziz — the invincible victor — your soul naturally submits to Him alone, and your worship becomes pure, directed only to the One who deserves it.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder this: The same Allah who created the vast galaxies, the towering mountains, and the oceans with a single command — He is the One who hears your whispered prayers and knows the secrets of your heart. If you truly appreciate His greatness, you will never feel alone, for the Almighty is with you. You will never fear any creature, for the Invincible is your protector. And you will never place your hopes in fragile idols — whether they are statues, wealth, status, or human beings — for all of these are weak, while Allah alone is the Strong, the Mighty. Let this realization transform your worship into pure devotion, and your heart into a sanctuary of trust in the One who never fails.
