Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- وَأُزْلِفَتِ – "And brought near" – from *izlaf*, meaning to draw close or bring near.
- الْجَنَّةُ – "The Garden" – i.e., Paradise, the eternal abode of bliss prepared by Allah for His righteous servants.
- لِلْمُتَّقِينَ – "For the God-conscious" – those who are mindful of Allah, guarding themselves against disbelief, sin, and everything that incurs His displeasure.
Tafsir (Explanation):
On the Day of Judgment, when the hearts are pounding and the scales of deeds are set, Paradise will be brought near for the God-conscious—those who feared Allah in the worldly life by fulfilling His commands and abstaining from His prohibitions. It will be drawn close to them, so much so that they will see it with their own eyes, as a visible reward for their patience and devotion. This drawing near is not merely a physical movement, but a profound honor: it signals Allah’s pleasure with them, and it transforms their anticipation into overwhelming joy. For the believers who strove to keep their faith pure, their prayers consistent, their charity sincere, and their tongues guarded, this is the moment when every sacrifice in this fleeting world becomes utterly worthwhile. They will witness the Gardens of eternity approaching them, adorned with rivers, fruits, and blessings beyond imagination—a reward that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, imagine this scene: the terror of the Day of Judgment surrounds everyone, yet for the *muttaqeen*—those who chose Allah over their desires in every moment of trial—Paradise itself comes forward to greet them. This is not a distant hope; it is a divine promise that cannot fail. The key to this honor is *taqwa*: a conscious, continuous awareness of Allah in your heart, which translates into righteous actions. Every prayer you protect, every sin you avoid, every kindness you extend to others, and every moment you resist temptation for His sake is a step that brings that Garden closer to you. Allah is not distant from His servants; rather, He is near, and He draws His righteous servants near to His eternal mercy. So let this verse ignite in you a longing for that blessed proximity. Strive today, with sincerity and love, so that when the final hour arrives, you are among those for whom Paradise is brought near—not as a distant reward, but as a beloved home awaiting its rightful dwellers.
