Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yaqdi (يَقْضِي): Judges, decides, or settles with finality.
- Bi-Hukmihi (بِحُكْمِهِ): With His just decree or judgment.
- Al-Aziz (الْعَزِيزُ): The Almighty, the All-Mighty, the Invincible — the One whose will cannot be opposed or overturned.
- Al-Aleem (الْعَلِيمُ): The All-Knowing — the One whose knowledge encompasses everything, with no detail hidden from Him.
Explanation of the Verse:
O noble Messenger, your Lord — the One who created you and sent you with the truth — is the One who will settle all disputes between those who differed, whether they were the Children of Israel who disputed over their prophets or any others who argued about matters of faith. He will judge between them with His perfect justice on the Day of Judgment, when every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. The one who followed falsehood and rejected the truth will face the consequences of their wrongdoing, while the one who believed and did righteous deeds will be rewarded with His mercy and generosity.
This judgment is not merely a matter of this world, where the truth may seem obscured and the oppressor may appear to prevail. Rather, it is a decisive and final judgment that will come on the Day when all secrets are revealed, and every person stands before their Lord with no intercessor and no protector except His mercy.
And He — glorified and exalted — is Al-Aziz: the Almighty whose power is absolute, whose decree cannot be reversed, and whose judgment cannot be challenged. No one can escape His grasp, and no one can overturn His ruling. He is Al-Aleem: the All-Knowing, who is fully aware of every soul's intentions, deeds, and circumstances. No truth is ever confused with falsehood in His knowledge, and no wrongdoer can hide their injustice from Him.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse carries a profound message of hope and reassurance for the believer, and a solemn warning for the one who persists in falsehood. If you ever feel that injustice prevails in this world, that the liar prospers while the truthful suffers, remember that Allah's judgment is certain and His justice is perfect. The scales of this world may tilt, but the scales of the Hereafter are balanced with absolute precision.
Let this verse strengthen your trust in Allah. He sees your struggles, He knows your efforts, and He will never let a single good deed go to waste. The One who is Al-Aziz — nothing can defeat Him — and Al-Aleem — nothing escapes His knowledge — is your Lord, your Protector, and your Judge. So hold firmly to the truth, be patient in the face of trials, and know that the final word belongs to Allah alone. And what a beautiful word it will be for those who believed and did righteousness!
