Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Rahmatihi (رحمته): His mercy and compassion towards His creation.
  • Taskunū (تسكنوا): To find rest, tranquility, and stillness — to settle and be at peace.
  • Tabtaghū (تبتغوا): To seek, strive for, and pursue.
  • Min Faḍlihi (من فضله): From His bounty and grace — meaning provision, sustenance, and livelihood.
  • Tashkurūn (تشكرون): To show gratitude and thankfulness, acknowledging the Giver of blessings.

Explanation of the Verse:

O humanity, reflect deeply upon this profound sign of your Lord's mercy! Out of His infinite compassion and care for you, Allah has created the night and the day, each with a distinct and purposeful role in your lives. He made the night dark and calm so that your bodies may find rest and stillness after the toil and exertion of the day — a time when fatigue melts away and your souls are replenished. And He made the day bright and luminous so that you may go forth into the world, seeking His bounty and provision through lawful work and endeavour.

This beautiful alternation is not a mere coincidence or an accident of nature — it is a deliberate and loving arrangement from your Creator, who knows exactly what His servants need. The darkness of the night brings peace to your hearts, and the light of the day brings energy to your pursuits. In this perfect rhythm lies a gentle invitation: *perhaps* you will be grateful. Gratitude here means more than just saying "thank you" — it means recognising these blessings with your hearts, praising Allah with your tongues, and using these gifts in ways that please Him. When you wake up after a restful sleep and go out to work under the sun, remember that this entire cycle is a mercy from your Lord, designed specifically for your well-being.

A Da'wah Reflection:

How often do we take this for granted? Imagine if the night never ended, or if the day never gave way to rest. Your Lord, in His wisdom, has woven mercy into the very fabric of time itself. Every sunrise and every sunset is a living lesson in divine love. So let your heart overflow with thankfulness — for the sleep that restores you, for the daylight that guides you, and for the Provider who orchestrates it all. This gratitude is not just a word; it is a way of life that draws you closer to your Creator and fills your days with barakah (blessing). Embrace this rhythm, and let it remind you that the One who manages the sun and the moon is the same One who manages your affairs — so place your trust in Him, and thank Him constantly.

📜 Verse 71-75 — Al-Qasas

Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the night continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you light? Then will you not hear?"
Say, "Have you considered: if Allah should make for you the day continuous until the Day of Resurrection, what deity other than Allah could bring you a night in which you may rest? Then will you not see?"
And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful.
And [warn of] the Day He will call them and say, "Where are my 'partners' which you used to claim?"
And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allah, and lost from them is that which they used to invent.
