Explanation of the Verse:
In this blessed verse, Allah tells us about His Prophet Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon him), and how He made him a Messenger to the Children of Israel. Jesus addressed his people with a message of truth, saying: *"I have come to you with a sign from your Lord"* — a clear, undeniable miracle that proves his prophethood and the sincerity of his call.
The first miracle he presented was that he would shape from clay the likeness of a bird, then breathe into it, and by Allah’s permission, it would become a real, living bird. This was not magic or illusion — it was a divine act, a manifestation of Allah’s power working through His chosen servant.
Then Jesus continued: *"And I heal the one born blind and the leper"* — he would place his hand on the afflicted person, and by Allah’s leave, sight would be restored and skin would become pure and healthy. He also raised the dead — calling them from their graves, and they would rise by Allah’s command, alive once more.
He also told them: *"And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses"* — he would tell people what they had eaten and what they had hidden away, things no human could know except by divine revelation.
All of these miracles were not performed by Jesus’ own power, but *"by Allah’s permission"* — repeated clearly to remove any doubt that Jesus was divine. He was merely a servant and Messenger of Allah, performing these acts only with Allah’s will and support.
At the end of the verse, Jesus said: *"Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers"* — meaning: these extraordinary, humanly impossible acts are clear proof that I am a true Messenger from Allah. They are enough for anyone who sincerely seeks the truth and is willing to believe.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse invites us to reflect on the greatness of Allah, who alone creates, gives life, and takes life. The miracles of Jesus were not to glorify him, but to point people to the One who truly deserves worship — Allah, the Creator of all things. When we see such signs, our hearts should fill with awe and love for Allah, and we should strengthen our faith in His messengers, including the final Messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him), who brought us the greatest miracle of all: the Qur’an, a living book of guidance that continues to inspire and transform hearts until the Day of Judgment.
Let us be among those who see the signs of Allah and respond with sincere faith, for the greatest success lies in believing and acting upon His guidance.
