Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • La'nah (لَعْنَة): Being cast out and removed from Allah's mercy, accompanied by disgrace and humiliation.
  • Al-Mala'ikah (الْمَلَائِكَة): The angels, who are the honored servants of Allah and never disobey His command.
  • An-Nas Ajma'in (النَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ): All people, with the specific meaning here being the believers, as they will curse the wrongdoers on the Day of Judgment.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse delivers a decisive and solemn verdict regarding those who, after clear proofs and guidance were presented to them, deliberately chose disbelief and turned away from the truth. Their recompense is not a mere punishment in this world alone—it is a comprehensive curse that encompasses the heavens and the earth.

The curse of Allah means His complete abandonment of them, leaving them deprived of His mercy and care. The angels, who are the purest of creation and constantly engaged in glorifying Allah, will also curse them, distancing them from any intercession or good. And the believers—the righteous among humanity—will likewise curse them, for their hearts will be filled with abhorrence toward those who rejected the truth after knowing it.

This is not a temporary state; it is a lasting condition that clings to them in this life, in the grave, and in the Hereafter. Their fate is sealed with exclusion from divine mercy, and no excuse or plea will avail them on the Day when every soul will be judged with absolute justice.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, ponder the weight of this verse. When Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, declares that He has cursed a people, it means the door of His mercy has been shut against them. Yet, how vast is Allah's mercy for those who repent before it is too late! The very same Lord who warns of this curse is the One who says: "Say: O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins" (Az-Zumar 39:53).

This verse is not meant to frighten you into despair, but to awaken you into action. If you find yourself far from the path, know that the door of repentance is open until the moment your soul reaches your throat. Run to Allah now, before the angels and the believers are commanded to curse you. Turn to Him with a sincere heart, and He will turn to you with forgiveness that knows no bounds. The same angels who would curse the wrongdoers are the ones who pray for the believers, saying: "Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way" (Ghafir 40:7).

Let this verse be a mirror for your soul. Ask yourself: Do I want to be among those whom the heavens and the earth curse, or among those whom the angels surround with their prayers and blessings? The choice is yours, and the time is now.

📜 Verse 85-89 — Aal-Imran

And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.
How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and had witnessed that the Messenger is true and clear signs had come to them? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
Those - their recompense will be that upon them is the curse of Allah and the angels and the people, all together,
Abiding eternally therein. The punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
Except for those who repent after that and correct themselves. For indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
