If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association. And none can inform you like [one] Acquainted [with all matters].

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

You call upon them (the false deities worshipped besides Allah).
They will deny your act of associating them with Allah; they will disown you and your worship of them.
The All-Aware, the One whose knowledge encompasses everything, hidden and apparent.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O people, reflect deeply on the reality of those beings you call upon and worship instead of Allah. When you supplicate to them, they cannot even hear your call—for they are lifeless objects, devoid of hearing, understanding, or power. And even if we were to suppose, for the sake of argument, that they could hear you, they would still be utterly incapable of responding to your needs or answering your prayers. They possess no authority, no resources, and no ability to benefit or harm you in the slightest.

Then comes the stark reality of the Day of Resurrection: those very idols and false deities will disown you completely. They will declare their innocence of your worship and your association of them with Allah. Far from helping you, they will stand as witnesses against you, exposing the futility of your devotion. On that Day, every false hope will crumble, and every misplaced trust will turn into regret.

And who can inform you of these certain truths with absolute accuracy? None but the All-Aware, the All-Knowing—Allah Himself. His knowledge encompasses all times and places, all that is hidden and all that is manifest. He alone reveals the true nature of things, and His report is the most truthful and reliable.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a profound invitation to purify your heart and direct your worship exclusively to Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of all existence. How can a rational person place their hopes in beings that cannot hear, cannot respond, and will disown them at the moment of their greatest need? Islam calls you to a direct, personal connection with the Almighty—a connection free of intermediaries, where your supplication is heard by the One who says to a thing, "Be," and it is. Turn to Him, for He is near, He responds, and His knowledge encompasses every detail of your life. This is the path of true peace, dignity, and ultimate success in this world and the Hereafter.

📜 Verse 12-16 — Fatir

And not alike are the two bodies of water. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
He causes the night to enter the day, and He causes the day to enter the night and has subjected the sun and the moon - each running [its course] for a specified term. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs sovereignty. And those whom you invoke other than Him do not possess [as much as] the membrane of a date seed.
If you invoke them, they do not hear your supplication; and if they heard, they would not respond to you. And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association. And none can inform you like [one] Acquainted [with all matters].
O mankind, you are those in need of Allah, while Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
If He wills, He can do away with you and bring forth a new creation.
