Word Meanings:

  • Jund (جُندٌ): A group of helpers, supporters, or soldiers who stand ready to serve and defend.
  • Muhdarun (مُحْضَرُونَ): Those who are brought forth, assembled, or made present in a particular situation.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse continues the powerful imagery of the Day of Judgment, where the polytheists will find themselves utterly abandoned by the very deities they worshipped and relied upon. Allah tells us that these false gods—whether they were idols, stones, celestial bodies, or righteous people who were deified—will not be able to help their worshippers in any way. They cannot rescue them from the punishment of Allah, nor can they even defend themselves.

What makes this scene even more striking is that the worshippers themselves will be brought forth as "soldiers" for their false gods—meaning they used to serve these idols, defend them, and even fight for their honor in this world. Yet, on that Day, all of them—the worshippers and the worshipped—will be gathered together in the same place of torment. Instead of receiving any benefit from this close proximity, they will disown one another. The idols will declare their innocence of the worship directed at them, and the worshippers will realize how foolish they were to place their hopes in things that could not even help themselves.

This verse serves as a profound lesson: those who rely on anything other than Allah—whether wealth, status, people, or false deities—will find that all such supports crumble on the Day when true help is needed most. Only Allah, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sufficient, is capable of granting victory and salvation.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, reflect on this scene with an open heart. How many of us, today, place our ultimate trust in things that are just as helpless as these idols? We may not bow to stones, but we sometimes bow to our desires, our wealth, our positions, or the approval of others. On that Day, all of these will fail us. But there is One who never fails—Allah, the Most Merciful. He invites you, right now, to turn to Him, to place your trust in Him alone, and to worship Him with sincerity. The doors of repentance are open, and His mercy is vast. Do not wait until the Day when every false support is exposed and every excuse vanishes. Come to Allah today, and you will find a Helper who never abandons His servants, a Protector who is always near, and a Lord who loves those who turn to Him.

📜 Verse 73-77 — Yasin

And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?
But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.
They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.
So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare.
Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary?
