Explanation of the Verse:
This verse reveals a profound truth about the unseen world and the divine protection surrounding the heavenly realm. The devils (shayāṭīn) are utterly incapable of eavesdropping on the Most High Assembly—the angels in the heavens—when they speak of what Allah has decreed, whether concerning His divine law (sharʿ) or His cosmic will (qadar). They are completely barred from accessing that sacred conversation.
Moreover, they are pelted with flaming meteors (shuhub) from every direction, driven away and repelled from even attempting to approach. This is not merely a physical expulsion but a humiliating defeat, a sign of their utter powerlessness before the might of Allah. And beyond this worldly humiliation, they face an everlasting, painful torment in the Hereafter.
This verse serves as a powerful reminder of Allah’s absolute sovereignty. The heavens are guarded by His command, and no creature—no matter how cunning or rebellious—can penetrate what He has protected. It reassures the believer that the divine revelation, the Qur’an, reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) untainted and pure, untouched by any satanic interference. The devils could not mix their whispers into it, for they were driven away before they could even listen.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear believer, ponder this: if Allah protects His heavens from the intrusion of devils, how much more does He protect the hearts of His sincere servants who turn to Him? When you recite the Qur’an, you are connected to a revelation that is divinely guarded—free from corruption, distortion, or addition. This is a mercy beyond measure. Let this verse strengthen your trust in Allah’s protection over His Book and over you. Cling to the Qur’an, for it is your lifeline to the Most High, a light that no darkness can extinguish, and a guide that no devil can mislead. Indeed, in the Qur’an lies your honor, your peace, and your salvation.
