Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ (Lam yatmithhunna): They have not been touched or deflowered; it means no one has had intimate relations with them.
  • إِنسٌ (Ins): Human beings.
  • جَانٌّ (Jann): The jinn; here it refers to the jinn-kind.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse describes the pure, untouched maidens of Paradise (Hoor al-‘Ayn) who are reserved exclusively for their believing spouses. Allah tells us that no human being before their husbands has ever touched them, and neither has any jinn. This emphasizes their absolute purity, chastity, and perfection—they are created fresh, unspoiled, and exclusively for the joy of the righteous in Paradise.

The verse comes in the context of describing the two gardens and the delights within them, where the believers will be rewarded with companions of unparalleled beauty and purity. The mention of both "ins" (humans) and "jann" (jinn) covers all possible beings, leaving no doubt that these maidens are untouched by anyone whatsoever.

Da‘wah (Invitation to Faith):

This beautiful description is a glimpse into the generosity of Allah, who rewards His believing servants with what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever imagined. It reminds us that the pleasures of this world—no matter how great—are fleeting and imperfect, while the joys of Paradise are eternal, pure, and beyond comparison. Let this verse inspire you to strive for the Hereafter, to purify your intentions, and to long for the meeting with your Lord. Paradise is not a distant dream; it is a reality prepared for those who believe and do righteous deeds. So, race towards it with sincere repentance, steadfast prayer, and good character, for Allah’s mercy and bounty are vast, and His promise is true.
