Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Salati (صَلَاتِي): My prayer — all acts of worship, supplication, and devotion.
  • Nusuki (وَنُسُكِي): My sacrifice — specifically the ritual slaughtering of animals for Allah during Hajj, ‘Umrah, and other occasions, done solely for His sake.
  • Mahyaya (وَمَحْيَايَ): My life — all that I do, say, and intend during my earthly existence.
  • Mamati (وَمَمَاتِي): My death — my final state and the manner in which I meet my end, and everything that follows in the Hereafter.
  • Lillahi Rabbil-‘Alamin (لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ): For Allah, the Lord of all worlds — the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign of everything that exists.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Messenger, declare to those who associate partners with Allah and devote their worship to idols, the dead, or other false deities: My prayer, my sacrifice, my life, and my death — all of it belongs to Allah alone, the Lord of all creation. I do not pray to anyone but Him, nor do I slaughter my offerings to anyone but Him, nor do I live or die for anyone but Him. My entire existence — every breath, every action, every intention — is devoted to His service, and my death is a return to Him, knowing that He alone gives life and takes it away. This is the essence of pure monotheism: that a believer’s whole being is surrendered to Allah, with no partner, no rival, and no intermediary. Just as my life is lived in obedience to Him, my death is a testament to my faith in Him, and my sacrifice is an act of gratitude and submission to His command. This verse teaches us that true devotion is not limited to rituals — it encompasses every moment of our lives and even our final departure from this world. When a Muslim internalizes this, their heart becomes free from the shackles of worldly desires and false gods, and they find peace in knowing that their ultimate purpose is to please Allah alone. Let this be a call to every believer: purify your intentions, dedicate your actions, and surrender your entire being to the One who created you, for He is worthy of all praise and worship.

📜 Verse 160-164 — Al-An'am

Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof; and they will not be wronged.
Say, "Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path - a correct religion - the way of Abraham, inclining toward truth. And he was not among those who associated others with Allah."
Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds.
No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims."
Say, "Is it other than Allah I should desire as a lord while He is the Lord of all things? And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."
