Word Meanings:

  • Hasrah (حَسْرَةٌ): Intense regret, remorse, and grief over a missed opportunity or a loss that cannot be compensated.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse addresses the reality of the Qur'an and its relationship with those who reject it. Allah states that the Qur'an itself will be a source of profound regret and sorrow for the disbelievers. This regret will manifest most painfully on the Day of Judgment, when the truth of everything they denied becomes undeniably clear. At that moment, they will witness two contrasting scenes: the believers who accepted the Qur'an and followed its guidance will be enjoying eternal bliss and honor in Paradise, while they themselves—having rejected it—will face punishment and humiliation. The Qur'an, which was sent as a mercy and a guide for all of humanity, will become for them a witness against them and a cause of their everlasting remorse. Their regret will be twofold: first, for having denied a truth that was so evident and clear, and second, for having lost the immense reward that could have been theirs had they believed and acted upon it.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse carries a profound lesson for every soul. The Qur'an is not merely a book—it is the direct speech of your Creator, sent as a light to illuminate your path and a mercy to heal your heart. Do not let it become a source of regret for you on a day when regret will be of no avail. Open your heart to its message today, embrace its guidance, and let it transform your life. For those who accept it, it becomes a treasure of peace in this world and a means of salvation in the next. But for those who turn away, it becomes a heavy burden of sorrow that will never lift. Choose now, before that day arrives when no choice remains—and let the Qur'an be your companion and your intercessor, not your accuser and your regret.
