Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Laghwan (لَغْوًا): False, vain, or meaningless speech; talk that is devoid of benefit or truth.
- Kidhdhaban (كِذَّابًا): Lying or denial; it encompasses both false statements and the act of accusing others of falsehood.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this blessed verse, Allah describes the blissful state of the righteous in Paradise, saying: *"They will not hear therein any vain speech or any lying."*
This means that the inhabitants of Paradise are completely purified from the noise and corruption of worldly talk. They will not hear any worthless, idle, or sinful conversation—no gossip, no backbiting, no obscenity, and no lies. Neither will anyone in Paradise utter a falsehood, nor will anyone accuse another of lying. Their speech is pure, truthful, and filled with peace, just as their hearts are pure and their souls are at rest.
Imagine a place where every word spoken brings joy, where no one hurts another with their tongue, and where absolute honesty and harmony prevail. This is the reward for those who feared their Lord in this life and guarded their tongues from harm. The verse reassures us that Paradise is not only a place of physical delights—lush gardens, flowing rivers, and beautiful companions—but also a place of emotional and spiritual perfection, free from all that troubles the heart.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse invites you to ponder the contrast between this world and the Hereafter. In this life, we often encounter vain talk, lies, and hurtful words that wound hearts and break relationships. But Allah, in His infinite mercy, has prepared for His believing servants a home where such things simply do not exist. This is a promise from the Most Truthful, and His promise is absolute.
Let this motivate you to strive for Paradise—to purify your own speech, to speak only what is good, and to distance yourself from falsehood. For the one who controls their tongue in this world will be among those who hear only sweetness in the next. And know that the path to this eternal bliss is simple: fear your Lord, do righteous deeds, and hold fast to the truth. May Allah make us among those who hear no vain speech and no lies in the gardens of delight.
