Word Meanings:

  • Yuḥiqq (يُحِقُّ): To establish, confirm, and make something prevail as true and certain.
  • Al-Ḥaqq (الْحَقُّ): The truth — here referring to the religion and message brought by Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him.
  • Bikalimātihi (بِكَلِمَاتِهِ): By His words — meaning His divine decrees, commands, and the proofs embedded in His revelations.
  • Al-Mujrimūn (الْمُجْرِمُونَ): The criminals — those who persist in sin and disbelief, specifically referring here to Pharaoh and his people.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this powerful verse, Allah reassures His Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and every believer throughout history that truth is not left to chance or to the whims of tyrants. Allah says: *"And Allah establishes the truth by His words, even if the criminals detest it."*

This means that Allah, in His infinite wisdom and power, makes the truth firm, stable, and victorious. He does so through His "words" — which encompass both His universal decree (qadariyyah), meaning that He has willed truth to triumph in the grand scheme of things, and His revealed commands (shar'iyyah), which carry within them clear proofs, miracles, and arguments that silence falsehood. When Musa stood before Pharaoh with the staff turning into a serpent and his hand shining white, these were not mere tricks — they were Allah's words made manifest, overwhelming the sorcery of Pharaoh's magicians.

The verse concludes with a profound reality: *"even if the criminals detest it."* The criminals — those who have severed their relationship with their Lord and persist in wrongdoing — may rage, plot, and resist, but their hatred changes nothing. Allah's promise is absolute: truth will rise, falsehood will collapse, and justice will prevail. This is not a hope; it is a divine guarantee.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, reflect on the beauty of this verse. When you feel overwhelmed by the spread of falsehood, injustice, or corruption around you, remember that Allah has already decreed the victory of truth. Your role is not to despair but to stand firm with the truth, as Musa did, trusting that Allah's words are stronger than any army, any wealth, or any scheme. The criminals may hate the truth because it exposes their deeds and limits their desires, but their hatred is powerless before Allah's will.

This verse also invites you to align yourself with the side of truth — not merely in speech, but in action, character, and conviction. When you uphold honesty, justice, mercy, and faith, you become part of the divine project of establishing truth on earth. And what greater honor is there than to be a vessel through which Allah's words manifest? So hold fast to the Qur'an and the Sunnah, for they are Allah's words that will never fail. And take comfort: no matter how dark the hour, the dawn of truth is inevitable.

📜 Verse 80-84 — Yunus

So when the magicians came, Moses said to them, "Throw down whatever you will throw."
And when they had thrown, Moses said, "What you have brought is [only] magic. Indeed, Allah will expose its worthlessness. Indeed, Allah does not amend the work of corrupters.
And Allah will establish the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it."
But no one believed Moses, except [some] youths among his people, for fear of Pharaoh and his establishment that they would persecute them. And indeed, Pharaoh was haughty within the land, and indeed, he was of the transgressors
And Moses said, "O my people, if you have believed in Allah, then rely upon Him, if you should be Muslims."
