Key Words and Phrases:

  • Shakk (شَكّ): Doubt, uncertainty, or skepticism.
  • Anzalnā ilayka (أَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ): What We have sent down to you — referring to the Qur'an and the divine revelation.
  • Alladhīna yaqra’ūna al-Kitāb (الَّذِينَ يَقْرَءُونَ الْكِتَابَ): Those who read the Book — i.e., the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) who study the Torah and the Gospel.
  • Al-Mumtarīn (الْمُمْتَرِينَ): Those who are in doubt, who dispute or waver in uncertainty.

The Interpretation:

O Prophet, if you ever find yourself in any doubt — even the slightest hesitation — regarding the truth of what We have revealed to you, then ask those who read the Scriptures before you: the scholars among the Jews and Christians who study the Torah and the Gospel. They will confirm to you that this revelation is the truth, because they find your description and the message you bring written clearly in their own holy books. Their own scriptures testify to your prophethood and to the truth of this Qur'an.

Indeed, the truth — absolute and undeniable — has come to you from your Lord. It is not a matter of speculation or guesswork; it is certain and established. Therefore, do not be among those who doubt or waver. Do not let the denial of the disbelievers shake your certainty, for they reject what they know to be true, out of arrogance and stubbornness, not out of genuine ignorance.

This verse is a profound reassurance for every believer: the message of Islam is not a novel invention or a human fabrication. It is the continuation and confirmation of the same divine truth that was sent to all the prophets before you. The Torah and the Gospel, in their original form, contained the glad tidings of this final messenger and the core message of monotheism. So when the People of the Book — those who are sincere and honest in their study — read their scriptures, they recognize the truth of what you have brought.

For you, O believer, this is a call to strengthen your conviction. Do not let the noise of doubters and deniers disturb your heart. The truth is clear, the evidence is overwhelming, and the signs are all around you. When you feel any uncertainty creeping into your soul, turn to the knowledge that has been preserved, reflect on the consistency of the divine message across all ages, and let your faith be firm. The one who has received the truth from the Lord of the worlds has no reason to waver — for the light of certainty dispels all shadows of doubt.

And this is a beautiful invitation for those who are still searching: do not be afraid to ask, to investigate, and to seek knowledge. The Qur'an itself encourages you to consult those who have studied the earlier scriptures. This shows that Islam is a religion of evidence, reason, and certainty — not blind faith. It opens the door for honest seekers to find the truth, and it assures them that when they do, they will find it solid and unshakable, coming from the One who knows all.

📜 Verse 92-96 — Yunus

So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless
And We had certainty settled the Children of Israel in an agreeable settlement and provided them with good things. And they did not differ until [after] knowledge had come to them. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ
So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters.
And never be of those who deny the signs of Allah and [thus] be among the losers.
Indeed, those upon whom the word of your Lord has come into effect will not believe,
