Key Words and Meanings:

- "أَعْجَمِيّ" (a‘jamī) – Non-Arabic, or a person who does not speak Arabic fluently and clearly; someone with a foreign tongue or accent.
- "مُبِين" (mubīn) – Clear, evident, and manifest in its eloquence and meaning.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the All-Knowing, informs us that He is fully aware of the false claims made by the polytheists of Makkah. They spread the accusation that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was not receiving revelation from Allah, but rather that a human being was teaching him the Qur’an. They pointed to a certain individual—reportedly a non-Arab or a person with a foreign tongue—whom they claimed was the source of this “teaching.”
Allah refutes their claim with a decisive and logical argument: the tongue of the person they attribute this teaching to is foreign and non-Arabic, lacking fluency and eloquence in the Arabic language. Yet, the Qur’an itself is revealed in a pure, clear, and profoundly eloquent Arabic tongue—a linguistic miracle that surpasses the capability of any human, let alone someone who is not even a fluent Arabic speaker. How could a person with a foreign accent and limited command of Arabic produce such a masterpiece of rhetoric, wisdom, and guidance? The absurdity of their claim is self-evident, and the Qur’an stands as its own proof of divine origin.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse invites every sincere seeker of truth to ponder the miraculous nature of the Qur’an. Its unmatched eloquence, depth, and precision cannot be the work of a human being—especially not one who was illiterate and had no access to scholarly learning. The Qur’an challenges humanity to produce even a single chapter like it, and throughout history, none have succeeded. This is a clear sign that the Qur’an is the word of Allah, the Lord of all worlds. Let this truth open your heart to the light of Islam, for in it lies the ultimate success and peace in this life and the Hereafter. Embrace the Qur’an as your guide, and you will find a treasure that never diminishes—a mercy that illuminates your path to eternal bliss.
