Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • "Yad'oon" (يَدْعُونَ): They call upon, invoke, or worship.
  • "Min doon Allah" (مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ): Besides or apart from Allah.
  • "La yakhluqoon" (لَا يَخْلُقُونَ): They do not create.
  • "Wa hum yukhlaqoon" (وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ): While they themselves are created (i.e., they are made or fashioned).

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse exposes the sheer folly of polytheism with a razor-sharp logical argument. Allah informs us that the false deities which the idolaters call upon and worship—be they idols carved from stone, wood, or metal, or any other object of devotion—are utterly incapable of creating anything, no matter how small or insignificant. They cannot bring into existence a single speck of dust, a tiny ant, or even the smallest leaf.

In fact, the situation is even more humiliating for these so-called "gods": they themselves are created. They are fashioned by human hands, chiseled, carved, and assembled by the very people who then bow down to them in worship. The idol worshipper shapes the idol with his own tools, paints it with his own hands, and then prostrates before it—a creature bowing to its own creation. This is the ultimate inversion of logic and reason.

How can a sane mind worship something that is weaker than the worshipper himself? The idol cannot hear, see, or respond. It cannot benefit or harm. It cannot even protect itself from being broken, moved, or discarded. Yet people abandon the worship of Allah—the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Sustainer of all existence—to bow before these helpless, lifeless objects.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound truth. Your heart was created to worship, and it will never find peace until it worships the One who truly deserves it—Allah, the Almighty, who created you, sustains you, and knows every secret within your soul. The idols of this world are not only the stones of the past; they are every desire, every material obsession, and every false ambition that you place before your Creator.

Islam invites you to free yourself from the chains of worshipping created things—whether they are statues, money, status, or fleeting pleasures—and to elevate your soul by submitting to the One who is eternal and perfect. When you worship Allah alone, you align your heart with the ultimate truth of existence. You find dignity, purpose, and tranquility.

So, open your heart to this beautiful reality: the Creator is One, and He is worthy of all worship. He is the One who answers your prayers, provides for your needs, and guides you through the darkness of this life. Do not waste your devotion on that which cannot even create a single particle. Turn to Allah with sincerity, and you will find a Lord who never disappoints, a Protector who never sleeps, and a Companion whose love fills the void in every soul.

📜 Verse 18-22 — An-Nahl

And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
And Allah knows what you conceal and what you declare.
And those they invoke other than Allah create nothing, and they [themselves] are created.
They are, [in fact], dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.
Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.
