Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Jahda aymanihim (جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ): Their most solemn and emphatic oaths, sworn with utmost effort and sincerity of intention.
- Bala (بَلَىٰ): Yes indeed — a particle of affirmation used to confirm what was negated.
- Wa'dan 'alayhi haqqan (وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا): A promise binding upon Him, truly and certainly.
Tafsir (Explanation):
The polytheists of Makkah, in their stubborn denial of the Hereafter, swore by Allah the most solemn and emphatic oaths — straining every effort to make their words convincing — declaring: "Allah will never resurrect those who die." They made this claim without any proof or evidence, relying solely on their ignorance and arrogance. They could not conceive how decayed bones scattered in the earth could be brought back to life.
But Allah responds decisively: "Yes indeed!" — He will surely resurrect every single person who dies. This is not a mere possibility or a vague hope; it is a binding promise that Allah has made upon Himself, and He never breaks His promises. Resurrection is an absolute certainty because it is rooted in His perfect justice, wisdom, and infinite power. The One who created humans from nothing the first time is fully capable of recreating them after death — and doing so is even easier for Him.
Yet, most people do not know this truth. Their ignorance is not an excuse, but a consequence of their refusal to reflect and their attachment to the material world they can perceive with their senses. They measure divine power by their own limited understanding, failing to recognize that Allah's ability transcends all human imagination. If they truly knew their Lord and His attributes, they would never doubt that the Day of Resurrection is inevitable.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder deeply: the very breath you take, the heartbeat you feel, the intricate design of your body and the universe around you — all of these are living testimonies to the power of the One who created you. The One who gave life to you from nothing is certainly able to bring you back after death. Do not be like those who swore falsely out of arrogance. Instead, open your heart to this profound truth: your life does not end at the grave. There is a meeting with your Lord, a day of accountability, and an eternal life that awaits. Let this certainty transform your actions, elevate your purpose, and fill your heart with hope in Allah's mercy and awe of His justice. The resurrection is not a distant myth — it is the ultimate reality that gives meaning to every moment you live.
