Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- الصُّور (As-Sur): The Trumpet/ Horn that will be blown by the Angel Israfil, signaling the end of the world and the resurrection.
- نَحْشُرُ (Nahshuru): We will gather/assemble (the people) for the Day of Judgment.
- زُرْقًا (Zurqan): Blue/blackened — referring to their eyes and faces turning blue or dark due to extreme terror, thirst, and distress.
Tafsir (Explanation):
On that tremendous Day, the angel will blow into the Trumpet — the second blow that resurrects all of creation from their graves. This is the moment when every soul, from the first to the last, will rise to stand before its Lord. And on that Day, Allah will gather the criminals — those who associated partners with Him and persisted in disbelief and sin — in a state of utter humiliation and terror. Their faces and eyes will appear blue or blackened, their features distorted by the sheer horror of what they witness and the intense thirst and punishment that overwhelms them. This is not merely a physical description; it is a reflection of the inner darkness of their hearts, now made visible on their outward appearance.
This verse serves as a powerful reminder that no one can escape the reality of that Day. The criminals who once felt powerful and secure in this world will be brought low, their appearance betraying their inner corruption. But for the believers, this is a call to action — a reminder that the choices we make today determine how we will appear before Allah tomorrow. Will we be among those whose faces shine with light and joy, or among those whose faces are darkened and blue with regret?
Let this verse awaken your heart. The Trumpet will surely be blown — that is an absolute certainty. The question is: when that moment comes, in what state will you be gathered? Turn to Allah now, seek His forgiveness, and live a life that pleases Him, so that on that Day, you may be among those who are gathered with honor and mercy, not among the criminals who are gathered in shame and terror. The door of repentance is open, and Allah’s mercy is vast — do not delay, for the Hour is nearer than you think.
