Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Lā tajū‘a (لَا تَجُوعَ): You will not feel hunger — the absence of the need or desire for food.
  • Wa lā ta‘rā (وَلَا تَعْرَىٰ): You will not be naked or unclothed — the absence of exposure or lack of covering.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this gracious verse, Allah addresses Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) after granting him and his wife residence in Paradise, outlining the abundant blessings and comforts prepared for them there. Allah assures Adam: "Indeed, for you in Paradise is that you will never go hungry, and you will never be unclothed." This is a divine promise of complete provision — food is guaranteed without toil, effort, or the anxiety of scarcity, and clothing is provided so that he is never exposed or in need of covering. The verse highlights the perfect ease of life in Paradise, where all physical needs are met effortlessly, contrasting sharply with the hardships of earthly life where hunger and nakedness are constant concerns. It is a reminder of Allah’s boundless mercy and generosity toward His creation, even from the very beginning of human existence.

A Da‘wah Reflection:

Imagine a life where you never worry about your next meal or the clothes on your back — where every need is fulfilled before you even ask. This is the promise Allah made to Adam in Paradise, and it is the same promise He extends to His righteous servants who obey Him and follow His guidance. Paradise is not merely a garden of trees and rivers; it is a realm of perfect peace, where hunger, fear, and want are utterly unknown. This verse invites us to reflect: if Allah cared so tenderly for Adam in Paradise, how much more does He care for us in this world? He is the Provider (Ar-Razzāq) who feeds every creature, and He has prepared even greater blessings for those who strive to know Him and worship Him sincerely. Let this verse fill your heart with hope and gratitude, and let it draw you closer to the One who promises His faithful servants a life of eternal comfort and joy — a life where you will never hunger, never be exposed, and never be deprived. Embrace His guidance today, and you will find that His mercy has no limits.

📜 Verse 116-120 — Taha

And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except Iblees; he refused.
So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer.
Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed.
And indeed, you will not be thirsty therein or be hot from the sun."
Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?"
