Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Rabbi (رَبِّي): My Lord, my Creator and Sustainer.
  • A'lamu (أَعْلَمُ): Most Knowing, fully aware of all things.
  • Bima ta'maloon (بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ): Of what you do — referring to your deeds, both open and hidden.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this verse, Prophet Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) responds to his people who had arrogantly challenged him, saying: "My Lord is Most Knowing of what you do." With these words, Shu'ayb declares that Allah — his Lord and theirs — is fully aware of all their actions, whether they involve polytheism, disobedience, or any form of transgression. Nothing escapes His knowledge, not even the smallest detail of their deeds. This statement is both a firm reply to their mockery and a profound reminder that Allah does not overlook anything. He is the One who will call them to account for every action, and His justice is perfect and inescapable. Shu'ayb does not need to threaten them with specific punishments, because the ultimate Judge knows everything and will recompense each person according to what they have earned.

Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a timeless lesson for every believer: our Lord is always watching, always knowing. When people mock the truth or persist in wrongdoing, the believer's response should not be despair or revenge, but trust in Allah's perfect knowledge and justice. This trust brings peace to the heart — for we know that no good deed is ever lost, and no evil act is ever overlooked. It also inspires us to be mindful of our own actions, knowing that we are always in the presence of the All-Knowing. Let this verse strengthen your faith: Allah sees your struggles, your patience, and your sincerity. He knows what you do in secret and in public, and His reward for the righteous is beyond imagination. So hold firm to the truth, and leave the rest to the One who never errs in His judgment.

📜 Verse 186-190 — Ash-Shu'ara

You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."
He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."
And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
