Surah Ash-Shu'ara — Verse 55

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this verse, Pharaoh continues his address to his chiefs and ministers, expressing his fury toward the Children of Israel who had departed with Moses (peace be upon him). He declares: "Indeed, they are a group that fills us with rage and provokes our intense anger."

Pharaoh's words reveal his wounded pride and deep resentment. The Israelites had defied his authority, rejected his claim to divinity, and departed from Egypt without his permission—acts that stung his ego and enraged his tyrannical heart. His anger was not merely political but deeply personal, as their departure challenged his absolute control and exposed the weakness of his false dominion.

The verse captures the psychological state of a tyrant whose power is being challenged. Pharaoh's fury stems from his inability to accept that a group he considered insignificant and lowly could defy him and escape his grasp. This rage, however, blinded him to the reality that their success was by the will of Allah, the Almighty, who protects His righteous servants.

This verse teaches us a profound lesson about the nature of truth and falsehood. When the believers stand firm in their faith and obey Allah, the forces of falsehood inevitably react with anger and hostility. Yet, this should not discourage the believers—rather, it is a sign that they are on the right path. The rage of the oppressors is a testament to the power of faith and the failure of their schemes.

For the believer, this verse is a source of comfort and strength. When you see the enemies of truth burning with anger at the spread of Islam and the unity of Muslims, know that this is the same reaction Pharaoh had toward Moses and his people. Allah ultimately granted victory to Moses and humiliated Pharaoh and his army. Likewise, Allah's promise to support His believing servants remains true until the Day of Judgment.

Let this verse inspire you to remain steadfast, for the anger of the oppressors is a sign that you are doing something right. And remember, the fury of the tyrants is nothing compared to the wrath of Allah that awaits them if they persist in their arrogance.
