Tafsir (Explanation):
When Musa (peace be upon him) approached the fire, his Lord called out to him from the blessed spot on the right side of the valley, saying: "I am Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. Now, throw down your staff." Musa, obedient to his Lord's command, cast his staff to the ground. In an instant, by the will of Allah, that dry stick transformed into a living serpent, slithering and darting with astonishing speed, as if it were a swift and agile snake.
When Musa saw this miraculous transformation, a natural human fear overwhelmed him. He turned and fled in panic, not even glancing back, so intense was his alarm. But his Lord, in His infinite mercy and tenderness, called out to him: "O Musa, come back! Do not be afraid. You are among those who are safe and secure." This was a divine reassurance that the very miracle which frightened him was a sign of Allah's power and protection, not a threat to his life.
This moment was a profound lesson for Musa: that true safety lies in turning to Allah, trusting in His care, and overcoming fear through faith. The staff that seemed terrifying was, in fact, a tool of his mission—a proof of his prophethood and a weapon against falsehood. Allah was teaching him that what appears frightening in the path of truth often becomes a source of strength and victory.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This scene carries a beautiful message for every believer. Sometimes, the commands of Allah may seem daunting at first, and we may feel fear or hesitation when faced with the unknown. But just as Allah reassured His prophet Musa, He reassures us: "Do not fear; you are among the secure." When you submit to Allah's will and move forward with trust, He turns your fears into peace and your trials into triumphs. The very thing you dread may become the means of your elevation. So, beloved reader, when Allah calls you to a step of faith—whether it is prayer, patience, honesty, or standing for truth—do not retreat. Advance with courage, for the One who commands you is the One who protects you. He has promised safety to those who believe and rely on Him. Let this story inspire you to replace fear with faith, and hesitation with hope, for Allah's care encompasses those who draw near to Him.
