Surah Aal-Imran — Verse 130

Explanation of the Verse:

O you who have sincerely believed in Allah and followed His Messenger! Beware of consuming riba (usury or interest) in any form, no matter how small or large. Do not take more than the principal amount you lent, and absolutely refrain from the practice of increasing the debt with interest each time the repayment deadline arrives, as was the custom of the people of ignorance (Jāhiliyyah). They would say to the debtor: "Either pay off your debt now, or let it increase with added interest," and thus the debt would multiply year after year, burdening the poor and enriching the oppressors.

Allah commands you to abandon this exploitative practice entirely, for it is a grave sin that destroys both individuals and societies. Instead, fear Allah in all your financial dealings, and be conscious that He sees everything you do. By obeying His commandments and staying away from what He has forbidden, you open the door to His mercy and blessings. This piety is the key to true success—success in your worldly affairs through a just and blessed economy, and success in the Hereafter through Allah's forgiveness and reward.

So, dear believer, let this verse be a wake-up call: purify your wealth from any trace of riba, and replace it with lawful trade and charity. Allah has promised prosperity to those who fear Him, and He has made clear that His path leads to ultimate triumph. Embrace this divine guidance, and you will find peace in your heart, barakah in your sustenance, and victory in both worlds.
