Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Fath (الفتح): Here it means the decisive judgment or verdict between the believers and the disbelievers, not conquest in the military sense. It refers to the divine ruling that separates truth from falsehood.
  • Sādiqīn (صادقين): Truthful ones — those who claim to be upon the truth and promise that the Day of Judgment will come.

Explanation of the Verse:

The disbelievers, in their arrogance and haste, mockingly ask the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the believers: "When will this 'victory' or decisive judgment come — the one you keep promising us — if you are truly truthful in your claim?" They say this not out of genuine curiosity or a desire for guidance, but rather to ridicule and challenge the believers, as if to say: "If what you say is true, then bring it now so we can see it with our own eyes."

This verse highlights a recurring attitude of those who reject the truth throughout history. They demand immediate punishment or proof, failing to realize that Allah’s timing is precise and purposeful. The "opening" they ask about is the Day of Judgment — the ultimate separation between the righteous and the wicked, when every soul will be recompensed for what it has earned. On that Day, the truth will be fully manifest, and the mockers will see the reality of what they once denied.

A Da'wah Reflection:

How often do we, as human beings, become impatient with Allah’s plan? We want answers now, relief now, justice now. But Allah, in His infinite wisdom, has appointed a time for everything. The disbelievers’ question was not a sincere search for truth — it was a taunt. Yet, Allah used their mockery to teach the believers a profound lesson: do not be shaken by the words of those who ridicule your faith. Their haste will not hasten Allah’s decree, and their mockery will not delay His promise. Instead, hold firm to certainty, for the "opening" is near for those who wait upon their Lord with patience and trust. The Day will surely come when the truth will shine, and every mocker will be silenced forever. So let this verse strengthen your heart: the promise of Allah is true, and His timing is perfect. Do not let the world’s noise distract you from the eternal reality that awaits.

📜 Verse 26-30 — As-Sajdah

Has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them, [as] they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs; then do they not hear?
Have they not seen that We drive the water [in clouds] to barren land and bring forth thereby crops from which their livestock eat and [they] themselves? Then do they not see?
And they say, "When will be this conquest, if you should be truthful?"
Say, [O Muhammad], "On the Day of Conquest the belief of those who had disbelieved will not benefit them, nor will they be reprieved."
So turn away from them and wait. Indeed, they are waiting.
