Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- أُولَٰئِكَ (Those): Refers to those who follow the footsteps of Satan and turn away from Allah's guidance.
- مَأْوَاهُمْ (Their abode/refuge): Their final destination and permanent place of settlement.
- جَهَنَّمُ (Hell): The blazing Fire prepared for the disbelievers and wrongdoers.
- مَحِيصًا (Escape/refuge): Any place to flee to, a way out, or a shelter to turn to for protection.
Explanation of the Verse:
After describing the fate of those who follow Satan's whispers and choose misguidance over truth, Allah declares their ultimate end with absolute certainty: their abode is Hellfire. This is not merely a temporary stop—it is their permanent dwelling place, the final destination that awaits them as a just consequence of their choices in this worldly life.
The verse then emphasizes the utter hopelessness of their situation: they will find no escape from it. There will be no way out, no refuge to run to, no shelter to hide in, and no intercessor to rescue them. Every door of deliverance will be sealed shut. The word *mahīṣan* conveys the idea of seeking a place to flee to for safety—and in Hell, no such place exists. The Fire surrounds them from every direction, and their attempts to escape will be futile.
This verse serves as a powerful warning: the path of Satan leads only to destruction, and those who willingly follow it will face a reality from which there is absolutely no return. The certainty of this outcome should shake every heart and compel us to examine our own choices—are we following the path that leads to Allah's pleasure, or are we drifting toward a destination from which there is no escape?
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, this verse is not meant to frighten you into despair—it is meant to awaken you before it is too late. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has revealed these truths to us while we still have the opportunity to change our course. The door of repentance remains open; the path of guidance is still illuminated before you. Do not let the whispers of Satan deceive you into thinking you have endless time. Every prayer you offer, every good deed you perform, and every step you take toward Allah distances you from that Fire and brings you closer to His eternal mercy. Run to your Lord today, for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful—and His Paradise is far greater than anything this world can offer.
